Kristina Schilt

Passing on the savings, credit, and investing habits she was taught — to the students nobody taught.

Kristina is from Powell, Ohio. At Capital University she was president of her professional business organization, a member of the Student Managed Investment Fund, and president of the Competition Sales Team. Her parents supported her beyond her needs, and, just as importantly, handed her the tools to build her savings, credit, and investments from the ground up. She joined FinMango to put those same tools in front of college students who don't have anyone at home to hand them over.

On financial health
"Financial health is at the basis of our society. It is the foundation for security and success."
— Kristina Schilt, on what financial health means to her
In her own words
01

Why this work matters to me

I feel beyond blessed to have had parents who supported me past my needs. But what mattered just as much is that they gave me the tools to build my savings, credit, and investments from the ground up — the part most people never get handed. I see the situation of the people who didn't have that advantage, and the gap isn't ambition. It's the head start. That's what I want to share.

02

The biggest barrier I see

Financial literacy is a strong barrier in our community. Everyone wants to be financially strong — I have never met someone who didn't — but few know how to go about it. The want is not the missing piece. The instructions are.

Her plan as ambassador

I want to make the case for financial literacy far more widely than it gets made today, starting with college students, because the younger you are, the more potential every decision carries. I'll do it two ways: sharing my own experience with savings, credit, and investments, and connecting students with industry professionals, so students hear it from people who do this for a living.
